[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]Event Missions and Bounties [attr="class","hopelovetop"] Missions are tasks related to a site event which can be accepted and completed in exchange for a particular reward. Mission statements describe the task and define its difficulty, as well as its reward. It should be noted that more difficult missions may present a risk warning, which may in the most extreme cases result in your character's death, or the death of a pokémon. Each mission has a risk assessment of either low, moderate, or high, corresponding with the presence of danger. Unless otherwise stated, missions may be completed by multiple players. In such a case, the rewards will be divided equally.[break][break] Players who wish to accept a mission or a bounty must post a request in reply to that thread. Once a player's application to a mission has been accepted, the player will be informed whether he or she must post a roleplay thread, or whether such thread will be created by the NPC account. Regardless, the thread must be tagged [Mission] in the title. Threads of high risk warning must also include the [!] tag. Some missions may require players to post in specific areas. With the exclusion of bounties on player characters, all missions will require interaction with non-player characters, and will as such require summoning a moderator. The player must roleplay through the mission to the best of his or her ability. Mission success or failure will be determined depending on factors such as writing quality, pokémon strength, and creativity.[break][break] Players have complete discretion over how their character deals with a mission. A player may indeed deliberately fail a mission or bounty to the end of accomplishing something other than the offered reward. For example, a player may respond to a bounty on a growing gang by either arresting the gang leader, or alternatively by attempting to join the gang (which may or may not actually work). Likewise, a player may respond to a report of a stolen pokémon either by returning the stolen poké ball to law enforcement, or alternatively by keeping it.[break][break] Some missions may be bounties on particular characters, which may be an NPC or a player character. Bounties will (almost always) require a target to be detained and arrested alive. These missions will typically include a moderator or high risk warning. Bounty targets may not be controlled by players during the mission. In the event of an NPC target (regardless of whether that character has its own character profile), a player must summon a moderator to spawn the NPC. Some targets will be explicitly stated to be found at a specific location, in which case the player must appear at that location. In the case of targets whose location is random, the player must post a moderator summons at the conclusion of the roleplay search for that target. A moderator will spawn the target if the roleplaying is judged to be sufficient. All targets described in bounty missions - whether they have a profile or not - are treated as player characters owned by NPC accounts for the duration of the mission, and cannot be "auto'd."[break][break] Player characters who commit crimes (or who are accused of committing crimes) may have bounties placed on them by law enforcement. Furthermore, those players may expect to encounter moderator-controlled NPC bounty hunters in open threads, even without a risk warning. Once the bounty has been accepted, wanted characters may not post in any new threads until either the bounty has been fulfilled, or until the bounty hunter has been defeated or otherwise repelled. Wanted players who do not appear in an active open thread at the time that the bounty is accepted may be required to appear in a mission thread. |
