[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]APPEARANCE
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Some would call Hyaska handsome. Others might even go so far as to say he is beautiful and carries a slight air of mystery. Some would simply claim he is lean and well built. Others might go on to define his sharp features and sleek form rippling subtly with well toned muscles. If one were to ask him though, he might use the term regal. Indeed from the base of his tough-soled and arched feet to the rounded-off dark haired crown of his head, all 5'2" of Hyaska radiates a calm and almost commanding presence, even standing below the eye-level of the average man he manages to appear as more than his short stature through his strong rugged cut and almost refined stoic countenance. Even his tanned bronze skin—curved and shaped by the subtle but noticeable protrusions of lean muscle from a lifetime of exercise and training—is smooth and supple, glowing with health. The silvering of scars lacing his body seems only to add a sense of battle-hardiness to him rather than detract from his appearance, tales of fights won and hunts succeeded that tell of his prowess in the heat of action: proof of his endurance, grit, and wits to survive with ease among the unforgiving mountains and ice of Blackthorne and to travel the wilderness of other regions alone.
[break][break]
Hyaska shows no shame in bearing his scars, wearing them proudly as a part of himself. He is at home with himself: confidence shows in every step and movement, never is he hindered by pauses of uncertainty nor clumsy fumbles, when he acts he always does so with the fluid grace and poise of an elegant, powerful Sawsbuck and his dark chocolate gaze is consistently cool and steady as a sleek, deadly Lycanroc: without fear, without hesitation, without doubt.
[break][break]
It is undeniable Hyaska is older and well-worn by time, but this too he wears more as a badge of honor and proof of durability rather than hides or avoids it. A middle-aged man, he has aged well, retaining much of his finer facets, still almost as youthful as his twenties are his high cheekbones and slanted brow, still the jet black of his younger days is his arced sweeping eyebrows, his carefully squared off and groomed beard that trails off into rough stubble at the base of his jaws, his tapering mustache leaning up from his beard and trailing to bridge over his curved lips. His hair, cut short with the sides shaved away and is kept carefully and pridefully brushed out and combed, all but one choice piece on the left side of his face drawn back and bound in a tight high bun. Silvery-grey streaks the edges especially near the edges or at the extremities of his hair and along the shaved areas when they grow in more, leaving natural highlights and betraying his age where slanted acorn eyes and smooth unweathered features do not quite do so.
[break][break]
Distinctly marking his body though, Hyaska bears an immense tattoo of a green serpentine dragon accented with crimson spiraling down his left arm in rich lines, roiling clouds and lightning helping to shape the scaled beast as it curls around him in almost snake-like fashion if not for the fins that grace its head and the short limbs and claws that sprout from its long chest. From the snout extending out across his wrist to the bladed fan at the base of it's tail curling across his left breast, the dragon outlined out amidst sun-touched skin and dark swirling storms of black and grey is often hidden under his clothing but in the warmer seasons glimmers and ripples across his arm proudly, a symbol of his dedication in the form of a green and red beast. Piercings also affect his body in distinct markings, if more subtle by far then his ink, dark grey rings hanging from his ears and a stud marking either side of the bridge of his nose, the latter only seeming to further draw attention to the severity of his sharp brows and piercing gaze.
[break][break]
Almost as inseparable from Hyaska's person as the ink under his skin is the bow strapped openly and brazenly upon his back and the quiver built into the base of his backpack it's sheath of blue fletched arrows. He both wears and wields the bow as though he was one with it, the dark polished wooden surface of the sturdy compound bow well over half his height when strung and well worn for its crafting, mirroring it's wielder in supple flexibility but sturdy build, the ends curving and tapering off to fine points and a grip fashioned out of dyed dark blue soft leather wrapped and bound to it's surface.
[break][break]
Even his apparel though suits Hyaska's purposes and look, remaining both simple and yet decidedly functional to a purpose at once. Heavy jackets have long collars and ample pocket space, often dark greens or blues if not a comfortable black, accented by the bright yellow or gold accents that mark their inner lining. Clasps and zippers secure them, and gloves cover his hands securely. Loose pants are similar in color and bulk, tucking into heavy boats fit for hiking and long travel and well worn by use and time already. In warmer weather he often takes to simply lighter versions of his current wear, trading out for hiking jackets and looser clothing, or to formal wear if in populated landscapes, black and white slacks, jackets, vests, and button-ups all not unfamiliar to his person, his person seemingly accustomed to long sleeves and covering himself and adverse in some manner to the lax and lazy nature of t-shirts, jeans, and shorts.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
To judge the book by its cover would be to perhaps find the presumption not far from the truth of the pages. Hyaska is, among other things, an exceedingly honest—if rather blunt—personality who strives to both pursue and maintain a certain level of straight forward directness to how he is and what he does. He rarely gives his word but when he does it can be expected to be withheld to the fullest of his abilities, when he speaks he says little and cuts right to the quick, making his points succinctly but exactly as he sees them, only sparing the time to remain degnified and polite but decidedly without unnecessary complications and difficulties deceit, or sugar coating that so often others love to use or hear.
[break][break]
If the truth hurts then it only needed to be said that much more then as far as he is concerned. He is far from a naive or inexperienced person when it comes to most walks of life and the ways of survival among both the wilderness and people but still he finds that the simplest most practical option is often the most correct and proceeds as such, even if it is beyond the tastes of some others. His care takes little notice of what opinions of himself he may gather save that they are honest in portraying him for his faults or his virtues, whichever one takes more notice or whatever light he may be cast in does not bother him in the slightest, and if others may hate him then so be it: what matters most to Hyaska is that the work is accomplished properly in the fastest most efficient manner as so long as whatever the current goal or task is completed then nothing else is particularly important.
[break][break]
At least, not enough to change how he does things. That is not to say he is without conscience or heart for the plight, well-being, and feelings of others, just that he holds professionalism and duty above cultivating good will and friendship. Even so he is not directly rude or unkind in his actions, merely direct, blunt, and perhaps without some of those social courtesies so many are accustomed to hearing that bend the truth around to make it more pleasant to hear. He is not without courtesy either—for what little he speaks and what few words he says when he does—though his are more formal things: for when circumstance allows he is without fail with politeness and respect, though sometimes some of his customs seem odd or unnecessary to those not used to him, using honorary titles in reference always when addressing someone, using surnames when possible, and when time and favor allows insisting on chivalry of sorts. He is never one to be unnecessarily cruel and even among his battles and his pokemon seeking a fair even fight, if possible taking or challenging only the hale and hearty and those who might be a fair battle. For all his brusqueness he holds life sacred and venerable, and has a strong distaste to taking fights he knows he can win uncontested if it's not necessary and frowning upon those who would target the weak or cheat.
[break][break]
He believes in the individual strength and the spirit strongly in this aspect, and from the outside it may seem he is a hypocrite to his own ideals both often actively seeking to challenge others and rigorously training himself to best others without mercy and yet claiming to always seek battles of equality. He tries to be the best and pushes himself to be without equal, but pushes himself against others to ensure this and to test this continually, and even those who might point to the fact that he does not hide his pursuit and hunts of specific pokemon and types or his knowledge and skill with a weapon in a modern age will find that he still tireless seeks to find a pokemon that is equal to him and good for its companionship and uses his weaponry only in times of need, believing in honing its skill out of a need to be prepared and a reverence for its history and beauty. If one were to find him in need, be it friend or foe, prey or predator, he would not be one to turn them away without hearing them and he would not be one to flippantly pass them off.
[break][break]
Indeed, in all his matters and dealings among others he has an incredible ability to always remain poised, calm, and composed. Some find his often lack of expression and the difficulty it takes to elicit any emotion from him disconcerting, but at the same time he always seemed to radiate an aura of coolness, always portraying an even tempered and patient demeanor on the outside and mentally enforcing a strict restraint and serene mindset, never letting weakness, distraction, and unnecessary feelings and emotions cloud his view or impair his thinking or actions. There is a time and a place for such things, perhaps, but he has little time for them and with-holds his own sentiments and passions when in company or on business.
[break][break]
It would almost be easy from an outside perspective to believe he is even without them from the extreme degree at which he is successful at concealing and controlling them. It would probably make little difference to most if it were true or not, but to those few he is most fiercely loyal to or closest in relations to—be it family or lovers—he is open with, showing himself to be a very self-less person with a tender heart for the care of those he feels responsible for. Even then he may have trouble showing or letting emotions through—a lifetime of training holding the strongest ones back and dampening even those simpler ones—but it is a fault he acknowledges and tries to fix in himself, even often he sabotages himself in such efforts and takes his mistakes far harsher then his successes.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Blackthorne was always a place of tradition. Honor and diligence is what the icy and isolated city had to offer, its residents hardened by a life on the mountainside, the infamously dangerous Ice Path on one side of them and the cliffs on the other, the Dragon's Den guarded in the heart of the mountain. Chilled perhaps towards most by their climate, among one another they were a close-knit community, if one that others could see only as harsh and unforgiving. As a child though, Hyaska knew them only as hard-working, taking inspiration from the City that raised him to be uncompromising and fierce, pursuing his goals and training himself relentlessly among the other trainers who studied under the gym. There was never any reason or room to question things really, one simply accepted things as they were. Life was not for simply idle play or pursuit of useless luxuries. One needed a purpose, a drive, to become something. Strength in all things was valued and emphasized, even from young ages, and while Hyaska could never say he did not have a true childhood or partake in many of things most children do, to describe them they might seem different from what many others could recall.
