Having grown up in Blackthorn City, Jason was no stranger to metropolises. While his hometown was far from the biggest settlement in Johto (that went to Goldenrod), concrete urban sprawls were still familiar to him, even if he'd grown up on a ranch. Even so, the young trainer couldn't help but gawk at the tall skyscrapers, as his boat pulled into dock. This city had to be at least twice as large as anything back home. Jason had been told that Johto and Kanto were basically backwaters compared to the rest of the world, but this was the first time seeing it with his own eyes.
With the gangplank being lowered to the docks at last, Jason gathered up his backpack and threw it over his shoulder. He patted himself down, checking for his belongings, but mostly found himself concerned with three Pokeballs in particular: that of Quilava, Brionne, and even Goomy. Satisfied that they still hung from the inside of his red leather coat, the young trainer finally began his descent from the ship that had carried him from Goldenrod City.
He was itching to let Quilava out from his ball, and Jason was certain that Quilava felt the same. The fiery honey badger didn't care much for the confinement of Pokeballs, and Jason was happy to have company. Once his feet hit solid earth once more, the young trainer pulled Quilava's ball from inside his jacket, and released him in a flash of light. The blue mammal yawned before yipping at his trainer, and then fell into step at Jason's side.
"Sorry bud, didn't want us getting separated on that ship. But take a look at this! We made it to Emporio City!"
The fire spitter took a glance at the city, and merely smacked his jaw. It seemed everyone was a critic.
"Come on, we're as far away from home as we've ever been! Imagine what Lona has in store for us! New Pokemon to see, new battles to be had! Maybe we could even take on the gym challenge!"
As the two of them continued down the dock, Jason found himself marveling at the new world around him. If Quilava didn't care for the city, that was fine, Jason could be excited enough for the both of them.
